GIT-8 Loop (North Central Illinois)  109 miles

Grand Illinois Trail Segment-8 Ride.
The ride starts from historic Whispering Oaks Park on State Route 120 in McHenry, IL. However, starting the loop in mid-course is certainly not a problem. The loop starts by going West to the scenic Rock Cut State Park near Rockford via River Road. The return is via the Grand Illinois Trail Segment-8 through Caledoinia, Poplar Grove, Capron, up to State Line Road, over to Hebron and Richmond, and then down to McHenry via Ringwood. The topography varies from flat to rolling hills. The ride is entirely  on pavement.

Mummy Mountain Ride (Scottsdale/Tempe, AZ)  37 miles

A 37-mile road loop winding through Scottsdale and Tempe, Arizona. The majority of the ride is flat or rolling hills.  However, the northern end of the loop includes several challenging climbs on Mummy Mountain. This ride was designed and developed by the Phoenix Metro Bicycle Club of the Greater Arizona Bicycle Association.   Greg rode this course on January 3, 2004 and highly recommends it for out-of-towners.  Sites include: Mummy Mountain, Camel Back Mountain, University of Arizona, downtown Tempe and various desert landscapes.

2004 Ups and Downs Ride (Elizabeth, IL) 61 miles

A 60.8-mile road loop winding through the hills and valleys near village of Elizabeth in northeast Illinois. The majority of the ride is rolling hills.  However, there are several challenging climbs. There are a total of 4,674 feet of climbing (descent) spread over about 30 miles.  This is NOT  a ride for beginners.  There are lots of hills.  This is an annual ride, usually run in late April or early May.  The below documents are typical.  The route may change slightly from year to year due to road work and conditions.  This is the same route used for the October Leaf Peepers Ride.
